Mithat Balkan
Chief Advisor to the President of the Republic of Turkey
Cumhurbaskanligi / Ankara, Turkey
Dear Mr. Balkan:
I’ve attached a letter to Prime Minister Demirel outlining the critical situation in the former S.F.R. of Yugoslavia, that I believe deserves the immediate attention of President Ozal as well.
It is my sincere hope that we can work together to stop the aggressive, hostile activities and the brutal military occupation by the Serbian communist and nationalist regime that threatens peace and prosperity in the entire region.
I enjoyed meeting with you at the Quincentennial celebration in New York and deeply appreciate the time you took to listen to my arguments for the recognition of an independent Republic of Kosova, as the only solution to protect the two-million defenseless Albanians of Kosova from their perennial Serbian communist oppressors.
I look forward to meeting with you before you return to Turkey.
